What the mobile app does
The app is built for pilots away from a desk. It does some things the console cannot, and the console does a great deal the app does not.
For owners, admins, instructors, students and renters
The iOS and Android apps are the same account as the console, narrowed to what a pilot needs away from a desk: your schedule, booking, ramping out and in, closing out, squawks and lesson grading. Anything an admin can do at a desk is in the console. The app is better on the ramp, and it is the only place push notifications actually arrive.
Which one should I use?#
Use the console at app.aerscheduler.com for anything that involves the whole operation: settings, billing, reports, the roster, the fleet, facilities, audit logs, posting announcements, and leaving or deleting a school.
Use the app for the flight in front of you. It is built for the ramp and the aircraft, not for the office.
What the app is genuinely better at#
- Grading at the aircraft. The app holds a grade written with no signal and syncs it later. See Grade lessons offline on the iPhone app.
- Ramping in and out. It is a phone in your pocket on the ramp, and the console is not.
- Push delivery. A cancelled booking reaches you in a minute, wherever you are. You can choose which push categories you get from either surface; the alerts themselves only land on a phone with the app installed.
What both do#
- See the schedule and your own bookings.
- Book, edit and cancel a reservation.
- Ramp out, ramp in, close out, and sign off with your PIN.
- Read the roster and the fleet, and open a person or a tail.
- Log a squawk, verify one, resolve one, and read the maintenance boards.
- Grade a lesson and read a training record.
- Post, edit and delete announcements (admins).
- Read announcements, tap Got it to hide one from Home, and read your notifications.
- Join or switch schools, leave a school, and delete one (owners).
- Invoice a member or a guest by hand.
- Choose email and push notification categories.
- Correct recorded times, override a booking's rates, and raise the invoice for a flight that closed out without one.
- Update an aircraft's home base on ramp in, when the school has that setting on.
What the console can do that the app cannot#
Everything school-wide, essentially:
- Settings, all twelve sections.
- Facilities, for locations, simulators and rooms. The app can add a location; only the console can edit or remove one.
- Reports, saved views, scheduled reports and the overview dashboard.
- The Billing page list: every invoice, marking paid, voiding, payment reminders.
- Audit Logs, Cancellations, Go / No-Go, and the Dashboard with its setup checklist.
Signing in#
The same email and password, or Sign in with Google or Apple. If you belong to more than one school, switch between them from the org switcher in the console rail, or from AppSettings → Switch organization in the app.
Android#
The Android app is on Google Play. Same account, same school, same push notifications as iPhone.
