Only grounding stops a booking
An aircraft with six open squawks and an overdue annual is still bookable unless something grounded it. Making every discrepancy an operational decision would make the grounding decision meaningless.

Airworthiness Directives
AD tracking that finds the ADs naming each aircraft
The FAA's Airworthiness Directives are in the library, matched to each aircraft by the make and model of its airframe, engine and propeller. Each one opens laid out as it was published. A person reads it and decides: applies, and tracked as an inspection, or not applicable, with the reason.

Common questions
- Does this replace my maintenance logbooks?
- No, and it does not try to. The aircraft logbooks required by 14 CFR 91.417 are the maintenance record, kept by whoever did the work. This is a tracking system: it counts down to what is due, keeps the aircraft off the schedule when it should not fly, and records the sign-offs you entered. A tracking system that called itself a logbook would be the wrong answer to an inspector.
- Does it track Airworthiness Directives?
- Yes. Turn on Find the ADs for our aircraft and it lists every AD in the library that names each aircraft's make and model, engine or propeller, and alerts you when a new one does. An owner, admin or technician decides each one, and it never decides for you that one does not apply: that determination belongs to a certificated person. If you run ADlog or AVTRAK, leave it off and AerScheduler lists nothing.
- Can my mechanic have access without seeing the money?
- Mostly. The technician role opens maintenance and the fleet, and reaches no member's invoices or balances and no flight billing. On a work order a technician sees the shop's labor rate and the lines on the job, logs their own hours and parts, and cannot change a price. Only an admin does that.
- Does it stop somebody booking a grounded aircraft?
- Every booking type except maintenance is refused with the reason. Grounding does not cancel bookings already on the aircraft, so the desk can see what has to be moved rather than having flights vanish.
- How do I schedule downtime?
- Book it. Choose the maintenance reservation type, pick the aircraft and the window. Nobody is assigned to it, it blocks the window, and it is never invoiced.
