Aircraft utilization tracking software

One number tells you nothing. Utilization here is three, because the money is in the gap between the hours an aircraft was held, the hours it actually flew, and the hours that reached an invoice.

The money is in the gap between booked, flown and billed.

Booked, flown, billed

Side by side, because the gaps between them are the finding

Idle tails included

A resource that flew nothing still gets its own row

Sends itself

Monthly, covering the previous calendar month exactly

What changes

You see the aircraft that is busy on the board and idle in the air

Booked next to flown exposes the tail that is permanently reserved and rarely goes anywhere.

You see the flying that was never billed

Flown next to billed is the other gap, and it is the one quietly worth money every month.

Ranking needs no arithmetic

Group by resource and a share-of bar appears beside each row. Export it, pin it, or schedule it.

Find out what each tail actually returns

Booked against flown against billed, per aircraft, for any window.

  • Efficiency derived from the columns beside it, never averaged
  • Resources that flew nothing still appear, at zero
  • Group by resource, instructor, customer or lesson type
  • A share-of bar on every group, so ranking needs no arithmetic
  • Simulators and rooms included, not just aircraft

  • Windows resolved in the airport's own time zone

Common questions

What counts as a booked hour?
The hours the aircraft was held on the schedule in the window, on the date of the booking. Cancelled bookings are excluded and have their own report.
Why does efficiency look bad on a fleet I know is busy?
Efficiency is flown over booked, and an overnight trip holds the aircraft for the whole trip while it is away earning rather than idle. Group by overnight to read the two populations apart, and compare billed rather than flown on trips.
Can I see utilization per instructor or customer?
Group the report differently, or use the instructor and customer activity reports, which cover hours, distinct students and cancellation rate.
Can I get this monthly without remembering to run it?
Save the view and give it a monthly schedule. The cadence sets the window, so each email covers the previous calendar month exactly.
