Find anything with search
One search box reaches people, aircraft, bookings and pages. What it returns depends on your role, so two people searching the same word see different things.
For owners, admins, dispatchers, instructors, students, renters and technicians
Press ⌘K (Ctrl+K on Windows) anywhere, or click the search field in the topbar. Pages appear under Go to, records appear underneath grouped by type. In the iOS app it is the Search button in the chrome.
What one search covers#
Two halves, always in the same order.
Go to is the console's own pages, including each Settings section by name. Up to five show at once, ranked so a page whose name starts with what you typed wins.
Records are the things in your school, grouped by type:
People, Aircraft, Reservations, Squawks, Training records, Currencies, Endorsements, Documents, Courses, Announcements, Locations, Ratings.
Narrow it to one type#
Type a prefix, or click one of the suggested filter chips:
| Type this | You get |
|---|---|
people: | Members and guests only |
aircraft: | Tails only |
flights: | Reservations only |
squawks: | Squawks only |
training: | Training records only |
The prefix becomes a chip. Press Backspace on an empty query to drop it and search everything again.
It finds pages by what they do#
You do not have to know our name for a screen. "Go no go" finds Compliance, "squawk" finds Maintenance, "syllabus" finds Training. If you can describe the job, the search can usually find the page.
What happens when you pick a result#
- A page navigates there, including an individual Settings section.
- A record opens it.
- A record with no page of its own lands you on the list that owns it, with the search already filled in. Simulators and rooms work this way, since they have no record page.
Two people searching the same word see different things#
Results are scoped to your roles, so search never shows you something you could not open anyway.
- Squawks are searchable only by staff and technicians.
- Courses are searchable only by somebody who can configure training.
- Your own currencies, documents, training record and endorsements are always searchable. Other people's depend on your role.
If you cannot find something at all#
- Archived members are excluded from the roster by default. Set the Roster filter on WebPeople to Archived.
- A record belongs to one school. If you belong to two, check you are in the right one from the switcher at the top of the left rail.
