Set up a privately owned airplane
Choose I own an airplane, name the hangar, pick the home airport, add the tail. You get owner, admin and renter, not student, and the rate can stay at zero.

On signup, choose I own an airplane. Name the schedule, pick the home airport, add the tail. You become owner, admin and renter, not a student, and the hourly rate can stay at zero.
Before you start#
Nothing. Same account as a school signup. The difference is the persona you pick on the first screen, so AerScheduler does not set you up as a flight school.
Pick the owner path#
On Let's get you flying, choose I own an airplane
The other cards are for joining someone else's organization, teaching independently, or running a school, club or FBO. This one is for a tail you already have.
Name it and pick the home airport
The name can be the tail, or your name plus Airplane. Search the airport by identifier or city so the schedule uses that field's time zone.
Add the airplane
Tail, make and model, Hobbs and tach. Leave the rate at zero if you do not bill hours. Skip is fine; nothing is bookable until a tail exists, and Book will send you to add one instead of opening an empty form.
What you get that a school founder does not#
A school founder used to receive every role, including student, which made the booking form ask which student they were. A private-owner signup gets owner, admin and renter only. You can still add instructor or student later from People if you need them.
The dashboard checklist hides school jobs (invite instructors, instruction rates, training courses). Invite people who fly with you is still there.
Give the booking a Title if you want the board to say more than Solo Flight. Notes stay notes; they do not become the calendar title.

Common questions
- Will the booking form ask me which student I am?
- No. That happened when every founder was also given the student role. A private-owner signup now gets renter instead, so you book the airplane as yourself.
- Do I have to enter an hourly rate?
- No. Leave it at zero if you do not bill hours. You can fill it in later on Aircraft.
