The FAA is adopting a new airworthiness directive (AD) for all Eagle Aircraft (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd (Eagle Aircraft) Model Eagle 150B airplanes. This AD requires you to inspect certain canard inboard flap hinge support brackets (initially prior to further flight and repetitively before the first flight of each day) and perform any necessary follow-up action. This AD is the result of mandatory continuing airworthiness information (MCAI) issued by the airworthiness authorities for Australia and Malaysia. We are issuing this AD to prevent failure of the canard inboard flap hinge support brackets caused by undetected cracks. This failure could result in asymmetric flap deployment and the inability to lower or raise the flaps with consequent loss of control of the airplane.

Bell Helicopter Textron Canada Model 407 Helicopters
This amendment supersedes an existing airworthiness directive (AD) for Bell Helicopter Textron Canada (BHTC) Model 407 helicopters which requires a one-time replacement of certain oil cooler blower bearings. Also, the existing AD requires adding a limitation and caution to the rotorcraft flight manual (RFM) and inspecting, replacing, and lubricating certain bearings at specified intervals. This amendment adds certain segmented drive shaft bearings to the applicability and requires modifying the oil cooler blower inlet ducts and airflow shields and replacing certain bearings. Thereafter, this amendment requires removing the current temporary limitations and inserting revised limitations into the RFM. This amendment also requires revising the inspection and lubrication requirements. This amendment is prompted by several cases of bearing failure. The addition of certain segmented drive shaft bearings is due to two recent failures. The actions specified by this AD are intended to prevent failure of a bearing, loss of tail rotor drive, and a subsequent loss of directional control of the helicopter.

Honeywell International Inc. (Formerly AlliedSignal Inc., Garrett Turbine Engine Company, and AiResearch Manufacturing Company of Arizona) TPE331-10 and -11 Series Turboprop Engines
The FAA is adopting a new airworthiness directive (AD) for Honeywell International Inc. (formerly AlliedSignal Inc., Garrett Turbine Engine Company, and AiResearch Manufacturing Company of Arizona) (Honeywell) TPE331-10 and -11 series turboprop engines with certain part numbers (P/Ns) and serial numbers (SNs) of first stage turbine disks. This AD requires initial and repetitive fluorescent penetrant inspections (FPIs) and eddy current inspections (ECIs) of the affected first stage turbine disks. This AD results from a report of a first stage turbine disk found cracked at the disk bore. The crack originated from a localized; melt related, low-alloy area of the disk. We are issuing this AD to prevent cracked first stage turbine disks from causing uncontained disk separation, resulting in engine damage and shutdown and damage to the airplane.

General Electric Company CF6-80E1 Model Turbofan Engines
The FAA is superseding an existing airworthiness directive (AD) for General Electric Company (GE) CF6-80E1 model turbofan engines with high pressure turbine (HPT) stage 2 (S2) nozzle guide vanes (NGVs) part number (P/N) 1647M84G09 or 1647M84G10, installed. That AD currently requires flex borescope inspections of HPT S2 NGVs installed in CF6-80E1 model turbofan engines. This AD requires the same actions but at reduced compliance intervals. This AD results from inspection findings of HPT S2 NGVs that show cracks from distress could occur sooner and grow faster than originally predicted. We are issuing this AD to prevent failure of HPT rotor blades from HPT S2 NGV distress, which could result in an uncontained engine failure.

Pratt & Whitney JT9D-3A, -7, -7A, -7AH, -7H, -7F, -7J, -20, and -20J Turbofan Engines
The FAA is adopting a new airworthiness directive (AD) for Pratt & Whitney (PW) JT9D-3A, -7, -7A, -7AH, -7H, -7F, -7J, -20, and - 20J turbofan engines. This AD clarifies a life limit for certain part numbers of 6th stage low pressure turbine (LPT) air seals, and requires their removal from service before accumulating 15,000 cycles-since-new (CSN). This AD results from reports of certain 6th stage LPT air seals possibly not being life tracked due to confusion from updates to the engine manuals. We are issuing this AD to prevent failure of the 6th stage LPT air seal, which could cause LPT damage resulting in an uncontained engine failure.

This amendment adopts a new airworthiness directive (AD), that applies to CFM International, S.A., CFM56-2-C, -3 series, and -5 series turbofan engines. This amendment requires removing from service main fuel pumps with bronze gear-stage bearings and installing main fuel pumps with bi-metal, aluminum/bronze bearings. This amendment results from several reports of main fuel pump bronze bearing failures. We are issuing this AD to prevent main fuel pump bearing failures resulting in fuel nozzle clogging, low pressure turbine (LPT) case burn-through, and damage to the airplane.

Lycoming Engines (Formerly Textron Lycoming), Direct-Drive Reciprocating Engines
The FAA is adopting a new airworthiness directive (AD) that supersedes an existing AD, for Lycoming Engines (formerly Textron Lycoming), direct-drive reciprocating engines (except O-145, O-320H, O- 360E, LO-360E, LTO-360E, O-435, and TIO-541 series engines). That AD currently requires inspection of the crankshaft gear installation and rework or replacement of the gears where necessary after a propeller strike, sudden stoppage, at overhaul, or whenever gear train repair is required. This AD requires the same actions but makes the correction that the existing gear retaining bolt and lockplate be removed from service and new hardware installed, and revises the definitions for sudden stoppage and propeller strike. This AD results from a change to the definition of a propeller strike or sudden stoppage. We are issuing this AD to prevent loosening or failure of the crankshaft gear retaining bolt, which may cause sudden engine failure.

Saab Model SAAB 340B Series Airplanes Equipped with Hamilton Sundstrand Propellers
This amendment adopts a new airworthiness directive (AD), applicable to certain Saab Model SAAB 340B series airplanes equipped with Hamilton Sundstrand propellers. This amendment requires a one-time inspection of two remote controlled circuit breakers (RCCB), located in specific electrical compartments, to identify the part number, and replacement of the RCCBs with new RCCBs having a different part number if necessary. This action is necessary to ensure removal of 35-ampere (amp) RCCBs on a 50-amp electrical circuit. Incorrect RCCBs on an electrical circuit could result in erroneous tripping of the RCCBs (even though an overload condition does not exist), premature failure of the RCCBs, loss of power to the feather pump system, and consequent reduced controllability of the airplane. This action is intended to address the identified unsafe condition.

The FAA adopts a new airworthiness directive (AD) for certain GARMIN International Inc. GTX 330/GTX 330D Mode S transponders that are installed on aircraft. This AD requires you to install GTX 330/330D Software Upgrade Version 3.03, 3.04, or 3.05. This AD is the result of observations that the GTX 330 and GTX 330D may detect, from other aircraft, the S1 (suppression) interrogating pulse below the Minimum Trigger Level (MTL) and, in some circumstances, not reply. The GTX 330/ 330D should still reply even if it detects S1 interrogating pulses below the MTL. We are issuing this AD to prevent interrogating aircraft from possibly receiving inaccurate replies due to suppression from aircraft equipped with the GTX 330/330D Mode S Transponders when the pulses are below the MTL. The inaccurrate replies could result in reduced vertical separation or unsafe TCAS resolution advisories.
