This amendment adopts a new airworthiness directive (AD), applicable to certain Boeing Model 757 series airplanes, that requires tests of the thrust reverser system, and repair, if necessary; installation of a modification that would terminate those tests; and repetitive operational checks of that installation, and repair, if necessary. This amendment is prompted by results of a safety review, which revealed that in-flight deployment of a thrust reverser could result in a significant reduction in the controllability of the airplane. The actions specified by this AD are intended to prevent deployment of a thrust reverser in flight and subsequent reduced controllability of the airplane.
The aircraft, engines and makers this AD names, by the model designations in its text. A model listed here may still be outside the AD's serial ranges.
