This AD applies to all Saab AB, Saab Aerosystems Model SAAB 2000 airplanes, certificated in any category.
We are adopting a new airworthiness directive (AD) for the products listed above. This AD results from mandatory continuing airworthiness information (MCAI) originated by an aviation authority of another country to identify and correct an unsafe condition on an aviation product. The MCAI describes the unsafe condition as:
You are responsible for having the actions required by this AD performed within the compliance times specified, unless the actions have already been done.
Within 12 months after the effective date of this AD: Do a detailed visual inspection for corrosion of the left-hand and right-hand horizontal stabilizers, do a detailed visual inspection for chafing or damage on the harness installed in the adjacent area, and install convoluted tubing on the harness, in accordance with the Accomplishment Instructions of Saab Service Bulletin 2000-55-013, dated July 6, 2009.
(h) If, during the inspection required by paragraph (g) of this AD, corrosion is found, before next flight, repair the corrosion using a method approved by the Manager, International Branch, ANM-116, Transport Airplane Directorate, FAA, or European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) (or its delegated agent).
Note 1: This AD differs from the MCAI and/or service information as follows: No differences.
